We're young, energetic and passionate about our potential. We're all self-starters who can run with a project and work collaboratively to tackle challenging problems. We crave new ideas and encourage each other to develop ways to test those hypotheses. We like each other, support each other and bike together.
We help thousands of consumers get their service needs solved each week. Our more than 250,000 active service professionals send those consumers quotes and get the job done. We have three times as many unique monthly visitors as airbnb and half as many active merchants as Yelp.
Our Cordon Bleu-trained chef prepares lunch and dinner daily in our full in-office kitchen. Lunches and Wednesday team dinners are a time to gather around a communal table and invite friends to the office to savor the unique dishes and heady conversation. We feel passionate that great food is part of building a great company, and Esquire Magazine thought our food was good enough to write about. We once ran out of beer in the office -- we promised to never let that happen again.
We are looking for great people to join our engineering team to make real products that hundreds of thousands of people use every month. Our engineering blog has more details about the work we do.
Some interesting problems we've tackled at Thumbtack:
We track and test everything, and needed a tool to log, aggregate, and analyze all that data. We built a tracking powerhouse whose crowning feature is an experimentation framework with beautiful statistics and visualizations that instantly tell us how code changes are affecting metrics across the board.
We built a fast, distributed crawler with custom data processing. It quickly scales up or down depending on our needs and the cost of machine time.
We're making a true marketplace where buyers and sellers transact through our trusted payments. Building a fresh, engaging user experience is as important as protecting data security and integrity.
We have no specific requirements, other than this: you must be a great problem solver who understands modern web technology and has a passion for great code.
We strongly encourage you to complete one of our programming challenges and submit your solution with your resume.

Want to make your mark as a UI designer? This is your spot. We feel like we have yet to hit v1 of our product. If you think our website is already beautiful, we don't want you. We want someone who sees a thousand flaws and can imagine how much better our design and user experience can be.
